Though they often work together, advertising and promotion managers have different roles. Advertising managers often serve as liaisons between clients and agencies, they could also oversee in-house accounts and creative and media service departments. Promotion managers increase sales by combining advertising with purchasing incentives using in-store displays, direct mail pieces, internet ads, endorsements, and special events to give away discounts, samples, gifts, rebates, and more.



Marketing managers identify possible markets for products and services while they create pricing strategies and work across sales, public relations, and product development teams. They could assist in the creation of a product or service while creating a marketing plan that includes many aspects of communication: social media, traditional advertising, promotions, and more.
